More than a little curious about the wicked-hot cat burglar and determined to get his property back, Mark's going to track down the thief and make her pay—big time.

Maybe Lorelei feels a tiny bit guilty for stealing Mark's good luck charm, but when it's worth $100,000 and the money could save her niece's life? She's not losing sleep over it . . . but him? Lorelei can't get the ballplayer with the bad attitude out of her head. And now he's come after her with more than just revenge in his eyes. My Thoughts
An incredibly fun and entertaining story about love lost and found, I had a hard time putting down All Out of Love. With wonderful characters, Wilde delves back into the Cupid, Texas world and answers the question, can you truly come home again?
Lace Bettingfield has had a crush on Football star Pierce since she was a teen. Things didn't go so well when she was a teen and this secret "love" was revealed, but as time went on the wounds healed. Suddenly, more than a decade later, Lace is working at the local Botanical Gardens. Life is going  fairly well...UNTIL Pierce shows back up in Cupid to take care of his Father. Now a studly pro footballer in need of some serious TLC, Lace has to guard her heart against heartbreak yet again.
I think above all, the story line, the secondary characters, even the hot scenes, I loved the two main characters the most. A smart girl with a hot jock? Yes please, send me one in real life! :) The story was just so funny with a witty comraderie between the two. Incredibly funny really and destined to leave you with a smile on your face, All Out of Love is another hit from Lori Wilde!

"The Storyteller" By: Jodi Picoult Review

The Storyteller
The Storyteller
By: Jodi Picoult

Synopsis
Sage Singer befriends an old man who's particularly beloved in her community. Josef Weber is everyone's favorite retired teacher and Little League coach. They strike up a friendship at the bakery where Sage works. One day he asks Sage for a favor: to kill him. Shocked, Sage refuses…and then he confesses his darkest secret - he deserves to die, because he was a Nazi SS guard. Complicating the matter? Sage's grandmother is a Holocaust survivor.
What do you do when evil lives next door? Can someone who's committed a truly heinous act ever atone for it with subsequent good behavior? Should you offer forgiveness to someone if you aren't the party who was wronged? And most of all - if Sage even considers his request - is it murder, or justice?
My Thoughts
I was quite simply blown away by Jodi Picoult’s newest novel. I’ve only read two or three of her books so I don’t know how this one compares to others, but I was absolutely entranced in this story. It wasn’t instantaneous but once it grabbed me, I felt as if I was in the world of The Storyteller.
As with most Picoult books, if not all, the story is told from a variety of different perspectives. So a variety of sources tells the main story of Sage and her new 90+ year old friend, Josef. Sage, with Jewish ancestry, meets Josef in a grief counseling group and they strike up a friendship. Both seem damaged with pain from their past still affecting them, so they take comfort in one another. During the course of their friendship, Josef does something quite shocking. He informs Sage of his past as a Nazi officer in Auschwitz and then asks her if she will kill him.
What follows is a heartbreaking tale of the Holocaust and its costs to the world at large. A large portion of the novel follows Sage’s grandmother, who lived in Germany and was Jewish during World War II. She tells of her time in Auschwitz and how easily good people turned bad. Sage argues with Josef, herself, and her own sense of right and wrong in deciding what she should do.
I think what sticks out in this story the most is the emotion behind the words and how much it touched me. As I was reading Sage’s Grandmother’s words, I sat in my bed and literally cried at how her family was just violently her family was torn apart and what she had to do to survive. I can’t wait to offer this to my book group as a possible read because I know they will be just as moved as I was. In the end it asks the question, what would you do in the face of such monstrosity? A heartbreaking tale of family, life, love, and the will to live, The Storyteller is going to stick with me for a long, long time.

"Tall, Tatted and Tempting" By: Tammy Falkner Review

Tall, Tatted and Tempting
Tall, Tatted and Tempting
By: Tammy Falkner

Synopsis
She’s locked up tight. But he might be the key.
Logan Reed is tall, tatted and tempting.Kit’s a woman with a mean right hook and a secret.
Kit wants a tattoo, but Logan sees more than she intends to share in the drawing of the tat she wants. He sees her in ways no one ever has.
Logan’s not disabled; but he hasn’t spoken in eight years. He hasn’t needed to.Until he meets Kit.
Logan doesn’t know everything about Kit. Kit doesn’t know anything about herself, until she has to sacrifice all she ever wanted to save what’s most important to him.
My Thoughts
Wowzas! Tammy Falkner (also part of the writing team behind Lydia Dare) has come into the New Adult Genre with a bang in Tall, Tatted and Tempting. I adored every minute of the story, from the very beginning when you don’t even know if you like the characters to the somewhat upsetting finale!
The story starts out as all romances should really, with Kit coming into Logan’s tattoo shop for a tattoo. Getting spooked, Kit runs out but not before leaving behind her very intricate tattoo that she wanted. Instantly infatuated and feeling a connection, playboy Logan seeks Kit out in the wilds of New York and eventually finds her, playing the guitar and living on the streets.
What follows is one of the most magnificent pieces of NA I’ve read yet. As in real life, the characters have actual flaws. Logan is handsome as the day is long but is completely deaf. Kit, a mysterious girl who doesn’t want her history known, lives on the streets in squalor, saving money desperately for just a roof over her head at night or a warm supper. They both are insecure in themselves, love their families, and each have a fantastic artistic ability, whether that be through music or through actual artistry.
I think something else that surprised me was the pacing of the story and the overall feel. I enjoyed how it seemed to speed up, or it could totally be just me wanting to read and find out what was going on. Regardless I couldn’t stop turning the pages, dying to find out what was going on. The tension was delightful between the two characters and the sexual chemistry? Very very yummy indeed.
A quick note, the ending initially bothered me. I want things to end the way I want them to end, but trust me, on reflection it seems absolutely perfect...for both the series and the characters. See, now you have to read it just to see what I’m talking about!
Love, love, love this one by the fabulous Tammy Falkner. There are four more Reed brothers to take care of, so I’m hoping and praying each one will get their own story. Funny, hot, and a new tone of romance that I adored, be sure to check out Tall, Tatted and Tempting from your local retailer.

"Hope Breaks" By: Alice Bello Review

Hope Breaks
Hope Breaks
By: Alice Bello

Synopsis
Hope Jones has two problems: one is new, the other is depressingly old.
The new problem: the bestselling author the publisher she shoots romance novel covers for hates her newest batch of covers. She has until the end of the week to come up with a breathtaking shot or she’ll be replaced. And there’s a sudden model shortage; they’re out of season.
The old, depressing problem: she hasn’t had a date, sex or a relationship in over two years. She also has one hell of a headache. Hope finds the cures for her two problems during a search through Wal-Mart for a painkiller to kill her headache.
Turns out the aisles of the retail giant are rampant with hot young model worthy specimens. And when her trusty Ford Taurus breaks down in the parking lot, a hunky mechanic in the Tire and Lube Express department fixes more than just her car.
Seemingly her troubles are good as gone…but then her new, fabulous cover is rejected, and in a desperate moment she has to choose between keeping her job and keeping the man she’s just starting to fall in love with
My Thoughts
A few weeks ago, Alice e-mailed me and asked me if I’d be willing to review her book. I’m kind of renown for staying with authors I have read before and I rarely venture outside of what I’m comfortable with. With that said, I absolutely adored Alice’s story and am so glad she contacted me!
Hope is adrift in life. She’s having a hard time finding her direction in life, and little does she know that a trip to the local Wal-Mart may very well change her life! Going to add a bit of humor here, I cannot tell you how beautifully Alice describes the actual experience of going to Wal-Mart. The sights, the smells, the people...its so spot on and just delightful, I thoroughly loved it.
Anyway, back to Hope’s life. With a broken down car, Hope meets Jake, a handsome car repairman who knew her when she was in school. An almost instant attraction occurs between the two. Jake sees something in Hope she almost doesn't see herself, which was an awakening of sorts.
Jake and Hope just click, but a big misunderstanding tear them apart. You can almost bet there will be a sequel because the ending is left WIDE open and boy do I want a sequel. Jake was so different from Hope, funny, loving and just plain open. I thought they fit together and when I read the last page, I just wanted to scream for more. A fantastic story about two opposites coming together and finding “hope” in one another. Can’t wait to see what comes next for Hope and Jake!

Delphine Dryden Stops by!

Why Don't We Do It in the Lab?

(Not literally, because that's probably not safe.
Lots of glass and chemicals around. Safety first, folks!)

For a long time, scientists were seen as the epitome of not-sexy. Wild eyes, crazy hair, a penchant for bringing things back to life with unfortunate consequences. But these days, people are starting to realize that scientists are as hot in the bedroom as they are in the lab. It’s a big part of my hero Ivan’s appeal in The Theory of Attraction, and a fundamental component of heroine Lindsey’s nature in The Seduction Hypothesis. It's no surprise, though. They've all got the method.

The scientific method, I mean. Think about it; what better way to approach sexytimes than like a scientist?

1) Ask a question. Which spots on my lover's body render the most erotic bang for the buck when touched/stroked/pulled/teased during sex?

2) Observations. Background research. Involving sex, with extra touching.

3) Develop a Hypothesis. If I gently stroke points A and B during sex, my partner will go off like a bottle rocket.

4) Experiment. Sex again! With extra touching!

5) Analyze: Bottle rocket Y/N? Yes!

6) Conclusions: Gently stroking points A & B: keeper move.

If the analysis yields a "no", of course, your scientist will keep on experimenting. Often he'll keep on experimenting even if he gets a "yes." And if you're lucky, he'll never stop!

Is your honey a scientist between the sheets?
Are you? Is there a time it gets too analytical?

A note from the Brunette Librarian: Isn't she adorable? Be sure to check out The Seduction Hypothesis. Here is my review! Ms. Dryden's website has information on the upcoming books in the series, and other books she has written.

"The Seduction Hypothesis" By: Delphine Dryden Review

The Seduction Hypothesis (Science of Temptation #2)
The Seduction Hypothesis
By: Delphine Dryden

Synopsis
Wildlife biologist Lindsey thought attending a fan convention with her new boyfriend Ben was a great idea—until their relationship fizzled. Lindsey still lusts after her ex—but if he wants her, he’s going to have to prove it.
Ben will do anything to win Lindsey back, and when he sees her in her skimpy black vinyl convention get-up, he realizes what she’s been craving all along. And he is inspired to finally give in to his own dark desire to take complete sexual control...
Lindsey is surprised by her reaction to Ben’s kinky new seduction techniques, and suddenly sees the brilliant but uptight code guru in a different light. After several erotic encounters in hotel rooms and stairwells, she’s falling for Ben all over again. And wondering if the intimate connection will last once they head home…
My Thoughts
The second book in the Science of Temptation series, I was intrigued by the concept of this newest romance. There is just something about a smart hero that really gets my motor runnin’! Add in a smart heroine and a comic book convention and you have the recipe for a fantastic story!
Ben and Lindsey have dated in the past but have recently broken up. Clearly not on the same page as far as their relationship, Ben almost immediately wants Lindsey back. On a group trip to a comic convention, Ben wants to win Lindsey back...but Lindsey isn’t really sure if that’s what she wants.
Something that was unexpected but pretty enjoyable was the naughtiness aspect of this book. Lindsey’s problems with Ben extend to his “power” in the bedroom if you know what I mean. Ben uncertainty and later overcoming of his concerns were enjoyable to see and I loved the character development. There was also just the right amount of romance and I genuinely wanted these two to make it, even through all of their difficulties.
I want to take a second to applaud Delphine Dryden for actually using intelligent characters and not making them a 2-D representation of themselves. I am excited to see what is upcoming and I just know...I’ll love the characters!

"Once Upon a Tower" By: Eloisa James Review

Once Upon a Tower (Fairy Tales, #5)

Once Upon a Tower
By: Eloisa James

Synopsis

Once upon a time…
A duke fell in love
Gowan Stoughton of Craigievar, Duke of Kinross, values order and self-control above all else. So when he meets a lady as serene as she is beautiful, he promptly asks for her hand in marriage.
With a lady
Edie—whose passionate temperament is the opposite of serene—had such a high fever at her own debut ball that she didn’t notice anyone, not even the notoriously elusive Duke of Kinross. When her father accepts his offer… she panics.
And when their marriage night isn’t all it could be, she pretends.
In a tower.
But Edie’s inability to hide her feelings makes pretending impossible, and when their marriage implodes, she retreats to a tower—locking Gowan out.
Now Gowan faces his greatest challenge. Neither commands nor reason work with his spirited young bride. How can he convince her to give him the keys to the tower…
When she already has the keys to his heart?

My Thoughts

I know I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I adore Eloisa James. She has a way with words that just draws me into the story and forces me to stay with it until I find myself on the wrong side of 3am with a happy smile on my face. As much as I love Eloisa James, Once Upon a Tower never hooked me as her other books have done.     Gowan, a very handsome Duke, comes to London and falls for Edie, a young fiery debutante. Gowan falls for her because he finds her so quiet and demure. Unfortunately when he first meets her, unbenowst to him, Edie was extremely sick so its not the most successful introductions, at least on her side.
As all great romances go, Edie and Gowan are married in grand order and he takes her to Scotland, the seat of his power. Almost immediately they are at odds with one another over a number of issues. Sexual, emotional, and mental problems persist with neither party on the same page.
To be honest, I loved Edie but hated her counterpart, Gowan. He seemed so confused and just misunderstood almost everything. I know this is a historical but it was a little unbelievable he was so clueless about so many things. Then to stay confused and be so bullheaded, it was just frustrating. His motivations behind his feelings and the reasons he did the things he did never really gelled for me either.
I do adore Eloisa’s use of fairy tales and I found the tie in during this novel pretty cute. I loved trying to guess how the Rapunzel theme would be used and I was surprised and excited when it finally came to fruition. Honestly this isn’t a bad book, the characters just never worked for me.
This won’t be my last Eloisa James book but its not even close to her best. I’m usually never able to put down a James book but this one was a struggle to get through and I’ll admit, I might have set it down for a week or more before finishing. I would suggest if you are a fan, don’t miss it but please, if you've never read her before, try
The Ugly Duchess or When Beauty Tamed the Beast.

What I've Read this week...
Gone Country (Rough Riders, #14)
Gone Country
By: Lorelei James
She’s a little bit country, and he’s…not.

Arizona businessman and long-lost McKay love child Gavin Daniels has been awarded sole custody of his teenage daughter Sierra for one year. In order to steer Sierra back on track after a brush with the law, he pulls up stakes and heads to Wyoming, looking for support from his ranching family...even if he isn’t sure where they fit in the McKay dynamic. He’s prepared for every contingency with the move: the less-than-enthusiastic response from his daughter, learning to run his corporation remotely, but he’s thrown for a loop when his new housemate, Rielle, is a whole lot sexier, funnier and sassier than he remembered.

Rielle Wetzler has finally overcome the stigma of having hippie parents and being a young single mother. In the two years since she sold her ailing B&B to Gavin Daniels, she’s become financially stable running the homespun businesses she loves. But now Gavin is in Sundance to claim the house that’s rightfully his. Although Rielle knew this day would come, she isn’t prepared to leave the home she built for herself and her now-grown daughter. And to further complicate matters, her long-dormant libido is definitely not ready to live with this newly buff Gavin—who isn’t a cowboy, but has the take-charge attitude to prove he’s all McKay.

Sharing a roof, their troubles and their triumphs is too much temptation, and before long, Gavin and Rielle are sharing a bed. But sharing their hearts and lives forever? That’s a whole ’nother ball of wax.

Flirting with Disaster (Camelot, #3)
Flirting with Disaster
By: Ruthie Knox

Fresh out of a fiasco of a marriage, Katie Clark has retreated to her hometown to start over. The new Katie is sophisticated, cavalier, and hell-bent on kicking butt at her job in her brother’s security firm. But on her first assignment—digging up the truth about the stalker threatening a world-famous singer-songwriter—Katie must endure the silent treatment from a stern but sexy partner who doesn’t want her help . . . or her company.

Sean Owens knows that if he opens his mouth around Katie, she’ll instantly remember him as the geeky kid who sat behind her in high school. Silence is golden, but he can’t keep quiet forever, not with Katie stampeding through their investigation. It’s time for Sean to step up and take control of the case, and his decade-old crush. If he can break through Katie’s newfound independence, they just might find they make a perfect team—on the road, on the job, and in bed.

Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour, #4)
Wicked Beat
By: Olivia Cunning

From the moment he lays eyes on Sinners’ new front of house soundboard operator, drummer Eric Sticks knows he has to make Rebekah his. Unfortunately, she’s too busy trying to seduce guitarist Trey Mills to pay him much attention. Rebekah never planned to fall for the tall, goofy drummer with the weird sense of humor and a heart the size of the galaxy. But Eric makes her laugh and his constant attention makes her feel sexy and irresistible–exactly what she needs after the things her last lover said to her. A woman who gives as much as she takes, Rebekah makes Eric feel like a total stud–exactly what he needs after surviving a decade of watching the incredibly talented members of Sinners from the wings

Life has been fantastic for me. I was recently chosen as an Avon Addict *screams* but more on that later. In May I was able to attend, for the first time, a Romantic Times Conference, which was AMAZING.

What's been going on with you guys since I've been quiet so long?
