<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: "merriweather" , "georgia" , serif; line-height: 21px;">My Thoughts
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: "merriweather" , "georgia" , serif; line-height: 21px;"> Elizabeth Hoyt is back in rare form with her newest addition to the Maiden Lane series. Having been a fan of hers from her first novel, The Raven Prince, I was delighted to pick up this newest tale of love, loss, and redemption. While this book is the tenth in the series, I am ashamed to say I have missed the last two or three, and wasn't confused at all when I picked this one up, so Duke of Sin can absolutely be read as a stand alone.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: "merriweather" , "georgia" , serif; line-height: 21px;"> Montgomery has returned from his exile with a score to settle. Hoping to gain redemption and ruin those who had wronged him, Montgomery ventures into a seedy underbelly. Bridget Crumb, Montgomery's newest housekeeper, has secrets and her own agenda. In a world filled with intrigue and never knowing who your friends or enemies truly are, Bridget and Montgomery find kindred spirits within one another. Only Hoyt can have this mysterious Duke find common ground with a destitute, secretive housekeeper who ultimately find their happily ever after.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: "merriweather" , "georgia" , serif; line-height: 21px;"> As I mentioned before, I had missed a few of the last novels. Boy, am I fixing this ASAP. Hoyt's worlds are just so nuanced and layered, and once you start it all just clicks. Romantic to its core, Hoyt writes unique characters, each and every time, which I adore. No cookie cutter heroine or hero, their traits and characteristics give you an insight into who they are, their motivations, and ultimately their fates. Gorgeously written as always, with plenty of sexytimes, romantic to the core, and just plain lovely, I can't recommend Duke of Sin highly enough. Just a great story, with fabulous characters, written in Hoyt's trademark wit I can't recommend this book highly enough. The Brunette Librarianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01274190099219658110noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-820510759274318028.post-64942665872332399862016-05-30T21:47:00.001-05:002016-05-30T21:47:38.920-05:00"Showmance" By: L.H. Synopsis

Damon Atwood was Hollywood’s golden boy. Having won an Oscar at the tender age of thirteen, he had the life many could only dream about. But his success came at a price, and after a short but fruitful film career, he chose to live a life of obscurity on a remote Scottish island. Almost a decade later he’s finally ready to make his return, starting with a lead role in a musical on London’s West End.

As a choreographer’s assistant, Rose Taylor has always faded into the background. She watches shows come to life from the side lines, but has never craved the attention of stardom. When rumours begin circulating of Damon’s involvement in her latest gig, she doesn’t predict how she will be thrust into the limelight, nor how the mysterious and strangely introverted man will need her to teach him how to be a star again.

Rose knows that show crushes don’t last. Actors fall for each other during the intensity of a production, often losing themselves in their roles. These kinds of affairs burn bright and then they fade. The question is, should Rose let herself shine with Damon, or guard her heart from being broken after the final curtain call?

My Thoughts
Opposites attract in the newest Cosway offering featuring brand new characters in the bright lights of the theater. A fan of Cosway since her debut, I found Showmance a bit more mild than her usual offerings but no less sweet or heartfelt. Can these two truly opposite people in the cutthroat world of acting truly be together or is it only for one magical evening?
Damon was a famous child star. Rose is a choreographer's assistant, used to being in the background and not getting noticed. Not that she minds really, until gorgeous Damon shows up and fireworks erupt between them. Age old insecurities, crazy ex-boyfriends, and supportive roommates fill out a interesting, yet heartbreakingly romantic novel that only L.H. Cosway can provide.
I am a huge Cosway fan. I adore her words and when I saw her in Tulsa in 2015, I gushed like a schoolgirl. However, I wouldn't suggest this as a first novel to read of hers if you are a first reader. Her trademark wit is very apparent, but the sexiness of her earlier novels is a bit downplayed within this story. If you are fan of the slow burn, definitely give this a try. An all around wonderful romance though, I enjoyed the banter and the utterly unique world Cosway has created.
My Thoughts

I adore Jeanette Murray’s writing. She writes lovely characters with rich backgrounds and histories, while not leaving out the heat I’ve come to expect from her books. Somehow I had missed the first two books in this trilogy, so I read this one a wee bit out of order. However, it in no way made my enjoyment any less…it just made me buy the first two and go on a reading binge!

Kara is a single mom, raising her son, and just trying to get by. Between the demands of her job and the demands of raising an allergy specific young boy, she doesn’t have much time for a love life. That doesn’t stop Graham though, a lawyer on base who is drawn to this driven young woman.

I think I adore these books, so very, very much, because Jeanette writes real situations. Life is messy. We have weird feelings. We are embarrassed. We often want what we can’t have. We get mad, we get angry, and we are often confused. We worry. We love. All of these emotions are clear in her work and create such a realistic love story, you become completely immersed within this world. The relationships are real, the brotherhood is extremely loyal and strong, and the love story is utterly lovely.

As I said before, I read the series out of order. However, it did make me go back and read the first two, not because I was confused but because I absolutely adored the people within the story. Sad that the trilogy has ended but was glad I was along for the ride. Brava Ms. Murray, excited to see what comes next!

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> LH Cosway has a true gift. This romantic
tale of cops and robbers takes you to places you’ve never gone nor do you ever
want to leave. Once again thrust into her world of romance, intrigue, and a bit
of the unusual, Cosway’s fans will be delighted while new readers will want to
read more.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> Reader’s of the series will recognize
Karla and Lee from previous books. Karla is currently working as a police

between himself and the police woman, but he is drawn to her again and again.
When the choice is given to Lee; he is forced to choose between love or family.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> First and foremost, Cosway writes relationship
stories. All of the characters in her books may not be blood related, but they
have strong friendships that are often tested and loyalty is always given. I
think that’s probably the #1 reason I am so drawn to Cosway’s work (beyond the
extremely well done naughty parts!), this idea of family is what you make, not
what you are born with.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> I adored this sweet and erotic romance of
opposites attracting. The whole “will they, won’t they” totally worked and I
cheered louder than anyone for that first kiss. Lee and Karla have to come to
terms with who they are, what they want in life, and decide if they can
actually work together. Creative, unique, and romantic, Hearts of Blue is your
not-so-classic love story and is once again pure perfection from one of my
favorite authors.

She upholds the law. He breaks it.

Two blue hearts, both alike in bravery
In not-so-fair London, where we lay our scene
From gun crime to petty theft
Where family is blood and survival makes hands unclean
In this place, we find two hearts who should be foes
And yet, amidst the turmoil their love still grows
Misadventure abounds and the divide will bring them strife
But with luck, death doesn’t always mean an end to life.

Hearts of Blue is a standalone contemporary romance that tells the story of star-crossed lovers Karla Sheehan and Lee Cross, a police constable and the thief who steals her heart.

Lee didn’t answer, and instead he took a step forward, forcing me to back up if I didn’t want us to collide. The problem with this meant my back hit the wall a moment later.

“You’re so pretty, Snap,” he said, voice low, as he dropped his face to my hair and breathed in.

I wasn’t wearing a hat, and my hair was tied up in a bun. My entire body trembled when he wrapped his arms around my waist, inhaled deeply and pulled me into a hug. This was a distraction, I knew it, and yet, I let him distract me. I wanted to be distracted, and I was just glad that the blinds in his office had been pulled.

Standing in his embrace for at least a minute with silence all around us, I was unable to move. I liked having Lee close, loved the feel of him and how he could make feel so…surrounded. Despite all the warning signs, my attraction to him only grew stronger. There was just something about him that called to me.

“Lee.”

His mouth moved against my hair. “What is it, Karla?”

“Why are you hugging me?”

“You looked like you needed to be held.” His response was low, and the affectionate undertone had me swallowing deeply. At long last I summoned the willpower to break the hug. His arms fell away from me easily, my stomach churning with confusion. What the hell was I doing?

I stared at the floor when I spoke. “I have to go.”

Heading for the door, I paused when he said gently, “Hey, I needed it, too.”

Synopsis

There was a time when Nick loved the fear he instilled in his enemies. His tattoos alone promised danger, but it was the look in his eyes that delivered on it. A contract killer since he was just a boy, Nick has now forged a new life and a new identity with the woman who followed him, captured him, and changed him.

He terrified Daisy. Once. But she couldn't resist, and she ignored every warning. It paid off. Now she's part of a new beginning, a fresh start in America helping him to leave behind a reckless and violent past as a professional killer. But the past is never easy to outrun, especially when so much of it thrives on revenge.

A new threat has emerged from the shadows, and now Nick and Daisy have no choice but to rely on Nick's killer skills to protect them from everything they've tried so hard to escape.
My Thoughts
A continuation from the Hitman series featuring Nick and Daisy, Last Hit: Reloaded focuses on their lives after. After the murder and mayhem, while they are just trying to live their lives and continue. Yet, Nick isn’t able to leave his past behind and is continuously on the lookout for trouble. Daisy is trying to live a comfortable quiet life, but is having issues with making friends and fitting in at college.
I have a soft spot for Nick and the journey he has endured. A former hitman, Nick is hard but Daisy gives him just enough soft to make him a true hero. Never backing down and extremely loyal, Nick is a tried and true killer who tries to hide his true nature to be more of what Daisy wants and needs. Through it all, Nick and Daisy still have a strong connection, no matter what happens.

An excellent addition to the series, with a few new characters added, I fell back into the world of the Hitman series with no problems. I’m looking forward to Last Kiss and returning to Russia. Without a doubt I feel that you need to read the previous books in the series, both for continuity and to enjoy the book and really know the past motivations of the characters.

By: Lorraine Heath

Synopsis

When Rosalind Sharpe gains the attention of the deliciously wicked Duke of Avendale, she’s torn between her distracting attraction to the notorious rogue and the knowledge that he—rich as Croesus—is the perfect target for a deception that will put her swindling days behind her.

However, Avendale is no fool. After he discovers the tantalizing lady packing up to leave London with his coins in tow, he confronts her with a scandalous proposition: she can have all the money she requires…for a week in his bed.

Desperate for the funds, Rose agrees, but on one condition: he must never question her motives. Avendale quickly sees beneath her mask and discovers she is more than passion and pleasure—she is everything he has ever desired. But claiming her requires he unveil her secrets and lose her forever. Unless he can put his own dark past aside and risk everything for a chance at love.

My Thoughts

First off, I decided to read this book because the synopsis drew me in so. I adore Lorraine Heath’s writing anyway but somehow I had missed her newest series. I can’t tell you how glad I was to pick this one up, because it led me to two other great historical romances.

Rose is a grifter, always looking for her next mark, constantly moving around the country. Fresh in London, she is quickly approached by the Duke of Avendale. Alone and used to being singled out for his money, Avendale is surprised to find himself drawn to Rose, a woman who doesn’t seem to want anything from him. Rose initially just views the rich Duke as a means to an end but as she grows closer to him and learns more about his life, she begins to want him for more than his fortune. Unfortunately for Rose, she has people depending on her and she must face unimaginable odds to help those she loves the most.

The book starts off a little differently and it took me a bit to really understand exactly what is happening. Rose is shrouded in mystery and I initially didn’t like her. However, as Heath unveils the motives behind Rose and her illicit dealing with London’s elite, I couldn’t help but be drawn in and find common ground with this misunderstood woman. Avendale is a wonderful hero and you can’t help but find his honesty refreshing and loving.

Heath is a master storyteller and it’s never been more clear than with her newest romance. Starting slow, I was drawn into the story of Rose, Avendale and a tribe of misfits looking to belong. Well written, fast paced, and with a fantastic finish, I immediately began reading the first two in this series. As I said before, reading the previous two in this series is unnecessary but you will absolutely want to when you finish. Another great one, I can’t wait to see what Heath has planned next.
Struggling with postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter, Kadence is at a crossroads. Trying to find a balance between being a Mother, a wife, and maintaining her career. Nix, the ultimate bad boy motorcycle man, is at his wits end trying to solve his problems at home and keep up his duty to the club.

River Savage breaks your heart but puts it back together as these two characters work through their problems and eventually reconnect.

I think the thing I admire most about this book (beyond the smokin’ hot sex scenes and accurate portrayal of parenthood) is how River Savage tackles the taboo subject of life after baby. For some women, it sometimes is a battle and for Kadence she fights every step of the way. Savage shows its ok to not be perfect and relates the importance of keeping on, keeping on. Tackling this subject in a romance no less shows Savage’s talent in storytelling and the strength of her characters.

A fantastic novella tackling one of life’s biggest challenges, Savage has another hit on her hands. A great companion to her full length novels, Nix and Kadence are showcased in both their best and worst. I can’t say enough great things about it and luckily, we have more Nix and Kadence coming up! Brava River, Brava!
Drunk, dirty, poor, and a wreck, King travels with his sister’s circus in despair. Broken hearted and down on his luck, the other performers have wide berth to the dirty, sunken man. So this is where we originally see King…

As King of Hearts begins, we are thrown into the past. Oliver King is a super successful investment broker with a fancy office and loads of money. Incredibly suave, King has the world at his feet. Women want to date him, men want to be him.

This is the environment that Alexis Clark is hired into. Entranced by the enigmatic King, she is quickly swept up into his world. Alexis is a young 20-something finding her way in London. Smart, she is enchanted by the mysterious King and ultimately falls deeply in love with him. After something truly heartbreaking happens, King goes missing and Alexis is left alone with a secret she can never reveal.

Fast forward a number of years and we are once again seeing King as the drunken mess that he has become. Concerned, Alexis receives a letter from a performer at the circus encouraging her to come and help. It is up to Alexis to bring King out of his stupor and once again make him the man he once was.

An extremely well written book, I adored the before and after look at these two dynamic characters. Each one grows and changes as the years and memories take their toll. I recently tweeted LH Cosway worried that King may not get the happy ending he deserved, and she quickly reassured me. Without a doubt, King has a utterly lovely story and is given a perfect queen for his “King.”

But one careless night in high school shatters her hope of ever being more than a notch on his bedpost.

He may not remember their reckless night together, but Kit has never forgotten… and she’s determined to make him eat his heart out.

But the past is paved with secrets, and when they finally surface, Kit could lose everything: the band, the music, her dreams… and Shawn.

My Thoughts
Kit Larson has loved Shawn Scarlett for years. As a teenager and now as a young woman, Kit has worked on her music with the thought of one day playing with the great “Shawn” or at least showing him up a bit. When the chance comes to finally perform with the band, Kit immediately auditions and is welcomed into the band.

Little do the band members know though, Kit is still holding back some resentment from her teenage years about a brief experience she had with Shawn. Kit and Shawn go on the road and Shawn shows Kit he isn’t who she thinks he is...not anymore. The past is revisited and wrongs are righted in this newest rock star book by Jamie Shaw.

I am a fan of the first two books by Shaw, I honestly devoured them. I read this one within a day and still love her band, her dialogue, and her story lines. However, this one didn’t work as well for me as her previous stories. My main concern was with Kit, the main character, and her almost dogged determination to hold on to the past. People make mistakes. People change. We are to believe she has changed and grown, but her relentless inner dialogue against Shawn got pretty old, pretty quick.

However, on the flip side, I adored Shawn. He was up for anything, sweet, solid, and seems to be the backbone of the band. He didn’t let the past define him the way Kit seemed to, but he also recognized that what had happened was wrong. In short...loved Shawn, and Kit seemed like the whiny girl in high school at different points in the story.

All in all though, Shaw has crafted a pretty solid romance with fantastic secondary characters. I adore how the author incorporates the bandmates and previous characters into the story so expertly while crafting the new story. All in all, Chaos is a strong story, just not my favorite. Chaos can be read alone, but I STRONGLY suggest reading the previous two books because they are friggin awesome.
Lorelei James has done it again! She is able to take 100 pages and just fill it with the most incredible western romance I have ever read. Cal and Kimi, one of the most beloved couples in the McKay family, finally have a chance to have their love story told in this new novella from James.

Told in only a few short chapters, we are taken on the adventure of the love story that is Cal and Kimi. First meeting at an ice cream parlor, Cal is immediately smitten with the sixteen year old Kimi. Their ages keep them apart, but when Kimi turns 18 and returns to her hometown sparks ignite. When all of the forces in the world seem to be pulling them apart, they find themselves battling against the forces to find true love with one another.

Sexy, sweet, and heartfelt, Lorelei James has hit this novella out of the ballpark. I have grown with this family through the series and if anything, the only minor complaint that I have is that it is too short. My time with the McKays wasn’t nearly enough but I do truly cherish their lovely little love story. Brava Ms. James, Brava!

The third book in the fantastically amazing Chaos series, focuses on Joker and his lady love Carissa. Through a series of bad decisions and poor family situations, both Joker and Carissa are at a point in their lives when things seem to be at their worst. Joker is completely cut off from his childhood family, has terrible memories of a terrible father, and no mother in his life. He lives for his MC club. Carissa is fresh off a divorce, has an infant to care for, and a job where she works 40+ hours a week. Needless to say, things are complicated.

As with everything Kristen Ashley writes, this is another winner. I am a huge fan of the Chaos series and just love the characters. Not knowing too awful much about Joker or his history, it broke my heart to read about his horrific father. Yet, as we have seen in the past, Ashley will bring you down only to bring you back up again.

Unique in this book, Ashley shows more of the inner workings of Ride, the Motorcycle repair business the club owns. She highlights how each person within the club has their purpose and I adore any scene that features Tack, Shy, or Rush.

Another winner, Kristen Ashley took these two seemingly opposite characters and have given them the perfect love story. Things are not always as they seem, as Joker and Carissa show. Each thinks the other has something, but indeed, they fulfill that need in one another. Plus, I think props need to go to Kristen Ashley for writing such wonderful characters that we can’t wait to get more of. Its a toss up, but Joker and Shy are in the running for hottest MC book in my collection. Bravo!

Who else can write three books, about the SAME two people, and still keep it fresh? Each book we have great supporting characters and I think it says a lot about her writing, that people are still clamoring for more of Rock’s story even after three books.

What I loved best with how Autumn left it was the simple fact that we don’t know what will happen next. More Rock and Hope? Wrath and Trinity? Jesse? Its a wide open field and I’m up for anything. Earth shattering sex, fabulously fun scenes, and secondary characters so good they need their own book, Autumn Jones Lake has another five star hit from me!

I was most excited for Wrath and Trinity because boy do I like me some Wrath.

I thought this was an extremely clever way to have the reader invest in the future of the series while also whetting our appetites for a bit more. Readers had never been in these characters heads before and had only briefly met them through interactions between Rock and Hope.

I loved the anticipation of Murphy and Heidi and am content to wait until they are both a little bit older. Autumn Jones Lake has a fantastic way of writing, creating a world that I could definitely get lost in. Sexy, fast paced, and action filled, this holiday set of novellas is the cherry to the Lost Kings cake!

No guy has ever been able to resist her… but Dee’s met her match in a player like Joel.
He quickly becomes an obsession, and when a reckless attempt to make him jealous ends in disaster, Dee turns into the damsel in distress she never wanted to be. With her carefree world crashing down around her, the last thing she needs is Joel’s pity.
If you can however, read Mayhem. It’s Adam and Ro’s story and absolutely adds a ton to this story. Regardless though, Jamie Shaw knocks Riot out of the park and has an anxiously awaiting reader here in Missouri.

Dee Dawson has a huge attraction for rock and roller guitarist, Joel Gibbon. Content as a hook up for several months, she begins to want more than a casual night of no holds barred passion. Joel doesn't want or need a girlfriend and is content to leave their relationship the way it is. After a harrowing attack on Dee that leaves her traumatized, Joel realizes that his feelings for Dee run deeper than he ever imagined.

I adore the world that Jamie has created. Filled with great main characters, extraordinary secondary characters, and really fun sexy times, Shaw writes unique stories. What I loved the most is how excellently she really writes 20-somethings. No one has everything figured out and she allows her characters to change and grow without assuming anything. Sure you know there will hopefully be a happy ending, but beyond that, her books don’t seem to follow a formula and are ultimately delightful.

Fans of Jay Crownover will have a new author in Jamie Shaw. A great writer with wonderful characters, Shaw’s take on the rock star world is fresh and fun. Fast paced with plenty of angst and a lovely happily ever after, Shaw’s books seem to only get better as time goes on.

I’ve been dying for Chuito and Alaine’s story for years, and finally the perfect story has been delivered! I knew that Chuito and Alaine deserved one another, and boy, did Kele deliver! Let’s take a moment to admire that lovely, heartbreakingly beautiful cover…..and now for the review!

Chuito and Alaine have lived next door to one another for years. As the story opens, we see Chuito at a crossroads and finally succumbing to Alaine’s advances. Quickly though, the story goes back several years and rehashes the entire relationship of Chuito and Alaine as we have never seen it before.

Chuito and Alaine are as different as can be. He has lived a rough life, alone for much of it, living with his issues and making a living fighting. Alaine is a preacher's daughter studying to be a lawyer. Yet each one finds the missing piece within the other. Alaine makes Chuito softer and Chuito gives Alaine the strength and bravery to stand up to life.

As with all Kele Moon books, she has given us lovely secondary characters. The Italians are on the move and things are building for an ultimate showdown. Romeo’s brothers will be getting their own books and I for one can’t wait. Fans of Kele’s books will be thrilled to finally read this exceptional story of Chuito and Alaine’s love, which definitely lives up to the buildup from the previous books. Brand new readers will have no problem picking this one up and jumping right in. One of the best authors out there, Kele Moon has another hit on her hands with Chuito’s story, The Slayer. She thrives off pushing the envelope and finding ways to make the impossible work in her story telling. With a mad passion for romance, she adores the art of falling in love. The only rules she believes in is that, in love there are no rules and true love knows no bounds.

Thankfully she married her own dark, handsome, brooding hero who had infinite patience for her airy ways and attempts to keep her grounded. When she leaves her keys in the refrigerator or her cell phone in the oven he’s usually there to save her from herself. The two of them now reside in Florida with their three beautiful children who make their lives both fun and challenging in equal parts–They wouldn’t have it any other way.

But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As the bond between them grows, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother’s shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.…

At the worst possible time, sexy Detective Hale blows into her life and forces her to make a decision that could cause both heartbreak and war.

I love me some paranormal romance. But when you hear those words you think vampires, werewolves/shifters, and angels/demons. Jasinda Wilder has just expanded my horizons with a little bit of magic.

This story starts off with Detective Carson Hale where we left him in Jack and Djinn. Dazed and confused about the case involving Miriam and Jack. He is working it out the only way he knows how, gin and tonic. The not so normal waitress, Leila Najafi becomes his sounding board. Not that she minds. She wouldn't mind if Carson did alot more. Before they know it a hat sexy kiss turns into a trip to the hospital.

Leila is basically royalty in her world, with the pain in the ass family to prove it. Her father is forced to marry her off to a nasty man Hassen. Leila wants nothing to do with that but she wants to protect her family. She finds her self between a rock and a hard place because her heart belongs to Carson. They have a long hard fight to make love prevail.

We get to see Nadira, who we met briefly in book one. This time she is kicking butt and taking names. I can only hope she has a book in the works.

We also get to see Jack and his grandfather, Shawn. That old man is becoming one of my favorite fictional characters lol

My favorite thing about Jack & Djinn and now Djinn & Tonic are the strong female characters. So many times I have read about weak women that need to be saved. I like it when the women do the saving. Jasinda Wilder knows how to make em tough :)The Brunette Librarianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01274190099219658110noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-820510759274318028.post-61030630440576490402015-04-01T01:00:00.000-05:002015-04-01T01:00:03.372-05:00"Last Call" By: Alice Clayton Review

Always a wonderful ride, James has exceeded my wildest expectations with Vander’s tale. With glimpses of previous characters, Vander and Mia don’t seem to match at all. Mia begins her relationship by blackmailing Vander with evidence that puts his father in an almost treasonous light. Yet, you can’t help but feel this desperate mood is called for when you see how desperate Mia is to save her only living family.

I thought it was incredibly clever how James worked in Mia’s work with the actual romance of the story. It gave me a little insight into the novel writing process and allowed us to get even farther into Mia’s head and motivations. Plus it was just really fun to read her novel and how it related to her current predicament.

He truly came into his own and was absolutely one of my favorite James heroes to date. Delightful with plenty of witty banter, Mia and Vander’s story was worth the wait. There are even some subtle nods to Julia Quinn and Lisa Kleypas, so keep your eyes peeled. This may even be my favorite James novel to date and is an excellent addition to her canon.

I really enjoyed the first book so that’s really saying something. Hope and Rock’s relationship grows as does their contact with the outside world. The author does a great job of creating enough tension and drama while maintaining a realistic story with really unique and fun characters. Plenty of sexy times abound and I read through the book in one sitting on a chilly winter morning. A great series, I’m looking forward to the finale of Rock and Hope’s story and really hoping for some Wrath soon too!

Super sexy but just a flat out good story, I loved both the hero and heroine. Rock is strong and steadfast, but loyal and utterly fallen for Hope. Hope is an attorney, highly educated and just out of a long term committed relationship. She finds Rock irresistible and steps into his world confidently yet a bit hesitantly. Simple, sexy, heartfelt, and fast paced, I fell in love with the world created and can’t wait to read what’s up next.

Simple yet so complex, Roz Chast explores a section of our lives we never wish to truly discuss; the end of life preparation and care of our parents. It’s a unique experience few of us think too much about but will all experience to some level.

As an only child, Roz is tasked with taking care of her 90+ year old father and mother who live in New York. She discusses illnesses, child guilt, elder care and ultimately death in a serious yet comedic style. Told through pictures and words, Roz’s story is one we all can relate to, even if we aren’t at that point in our lives. Well written, you can’t help but empathize and giggle as Roz shares her experiences.

He steals, he cheats, and he is always looking for ways to get ahead in the Point, filled with criminals and bad guys. Race revels in being one of the baddest of the bad. When someone begins threatening Brysen at work, Race steps in and sparks explode between the two. Is Brysen ready to take on all that is Race and be his Queen of the Point or will she fear for the future?

She can write the absolute worst characters that you don’t think can be redeemed..and she makes them totally redeemable. At the end of the previous book, you hate Race. Seriously. He’s this egomaniac with a devil may care attitude. Yet, the minute Brysen needs him to be her knight, he steps up to the plate. He becomes the man that Brysen needs and I absolutely fell in love with him.
