Q: Summer Reading. What was your favorite book that you were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?
Hmm...this
one is a hard one!
I
think I have two favorites.
When
I was a sophomore in high school,
I fell in love with
Julius
Caesar By
Shakespeare.
Then
my Junior year,
I remember reading and absolutely loving
The
Glass Menagerie
By:
Tennessee Williams
After
looking at both of these, I realize they are plays, which I normally
do not gravitate towards. I think most of the novels we read were
just so weird, that I enjoyed the plays more.
Kudos to wonderful
teachers and amazing literature!
I actually haven't read either of those! I've at least heard of Julius Caesar, but I don't think I've even heard of The Glass Menagerie. Uh oh, I feel out of the loop! :P *goes to look it up*
ReplyDelete+1 to your comment about wonderful teachers! I just reconnected with my old English teacher on Facebook. So awesome!

ReplyDeleteTHanks for stopping by my blog. You have to read Outsiders. And see the movie as well. Both awesome. I made it my goal one summer to read everything from Shakespeare. He's one of my favs. Have never read Glass Menagerie.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read either of those. I might've done studies on Brutus' speech in Julius Ceasar but never read the entire thing.

I loved it whenever we read Shakespeare in school. It's been a while since I read Julius Caesar; I'm going to have to reread that one soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
I haven't read either book, but Shakespeare's always a great pick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!

Oh Julius Ceasar. Shakespeare was fun from time to time. It depended on the teacher and how interested they were in the text. If they were enthusiastic it was a little better, if they acted like it was just another book they had to trudge through that semester... it was pretty crap.
ReplyDeleteAnd that happened alot, believe it or not.
Thanks for stopping by!
I really liked doing plays at school, too - but I don't read them these days, as a matter of course. Maybe I should!
ReplyDeleteI did not like Julius Ceasar but I think it has to do with the way it was taught.

Gosh, I can't recall anything from HIgh School. I enjoyed Romeo & Juliet. But after that I was just rushing to get out a year early. And it was a long time ago...
ReplyDeleteAlthough I haven't read either of these, I too enjoyed reading plays in High School! Romeo and Juliet was probably my favorite except when we were forced to read it aloud! New follower! Thanks for hopping by!

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF!
I haven't read either of those, but I've heard they're both great! I think the only Shakespeare I was ever required to read Romeo & Juliet. Thanks so much for stopping by my FF, and I'm sorry it has taken me so long to repond! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh the Glass Menagerie! I remember liking that too! One of the better American Lit plays I had to read!
