Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

I totally just did this last week!

I had heard so much negativity about "fifty shades of Grey" yet, so many good things that I just had to try it.
and i loved it!!

read the original  "negative" review for me at smart bitches, trashy books.

what books have you bought because of a negative review?

  5. I have major curiosity for this book just because I've heard so much about it. It sounds like it's a book that people either love or loathe, with no in-between. The synopsis scares me a little, I have yet to get into erotica :p
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Friday!

  6. I have a huge curiousity over this book because I've heard so many mixed things about it. People hate the writing but love the story, or people just hate the whole thing altogether ... I'm definitely intrigued, but I don't think I'd go out and buy it. Maybe get it from the library (if they get it!), but not buy it ... I've bought way too many BAD books to want to get stung again.

    Happy FF! :)

  16. I did the same with 50 Shades of Gray! But I ended up completely tearing my hair out over it. I kept thinking, "Man, this sounds familiar. Why does this sound familiar? I know I've read this before..." because I used to be a huge Twilight Fanfiction reader. And lo and behold, the author of Master of the Universe, a Twilight fanfiction, just went in and inserted different names for Bella and Edward, and found out what spellcheck was. Then she self-published it.

And then all of my feelings hit the fan, because I'm avidly against plagiarism (even intellectual plagiarism) and... yeah. I enjoyed the book, but it should've stayed as a fanfiction.

    :/
