Do your reading habits change based on your mood?
It's weird to say, but my reading habits DO change. While I do not necessarily change genres,
I do re-read books when I'm kind of depressed
or in a funk.
I find myself if I have had a bad day, picking up an old favorite rather than reading something new.
Maybe it soothes me, who knows...but I prefer to re-read rather than read something new when I'm in a weird mood.
How about you?
Nice! I haven't really ever done that, but I guess anytime is a good time for Daemon Black, so maybe I'll pick up my favourite when I'm feeling down! ;)
ReplyDeleteStopping through with My FF!
I would say that in the past, I was more easily swayed by my moods when reading. Lately, however, I've been able to enjoy an array of genres without letting my mood interfere. I'm not certain what has changed, but it is nice to be able to pick up any book and know I will enjoy it no matter what is happening in my life.
ReplyDeletea familiar book can be like a warm blanket on a down/dark day. i can see that.

I agree. A familiar book does nothing better than brighten up the day.

A nice answer! I might start to do the same, I am in a bit of a reading funk at the moment so might do a bit of a re-read of an old favorite :)

Have a nice weekend.
I am the same way, I know how I feel about the book and it is like a comfort.

Hopping through. It's nice to re-read books when you're in a bad mood. I think I'm going to re-read Harry Potter once I move. It'll be something familiar in a new place.
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
I used to do this! Re-reading when I was in a bad mood..now with so much to read it's so hard to manage most of the time. I should just start doing it regardless. :)
ReplyDeleteGood answer! I re-read too. Forgot to mention that. New follower! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! Hopping through!
ReplyDeleteI don't really reread books, if I really enjoyed a book I will read it again though, like Divergent...:D
New GFC follower! :)
Here is my FF post: http://blogofabookaholic.blogspot.com/2012/08/feature-and-follow-friday-3.html
I am really enjoying doing a few re-reads this year (usually right before a new book is released in the series)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by My FF
New Follower.
Ohh re-reading. I haven't done that in a while actually. I used to re-read my favourites all the time.

I haven't re-read for a while, but I used to do it all the time!

Here's our FF
Happy Friday!
I'm like Jamie in that I haven't re-read a book in ages. I guess I just have too many in my stockpile at the moment to be bothered with someone I've already read.

Have a great weekend!

There's nothing better than reading a good book, especially if it's been a while.
ReplyDeleteJust hopping by, have a great week-end.

I don't know if my other comment went through.
ReplyDeleteMoods definitely affect what I read- and whether or not I read a book in the first place. I don't get a chance to re-read much nowadays (maybe that's because of age) but I highly recommend it. We're never the same reader twice. I think Nancy Pearl said that.
Makes sense. I do that sometimes too. New Linky follower, and thanks for checking my post out!
ReplyDeleteGreat answer this week!!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading and thanks for stopping by my follow Friday!
I do the same thing. If I'm in a bad mood I read something like Harry Potter because I KNOW that's going to do the trick.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
