"Stripped" By: Jasinda Wilder Blog Tour & Review

Stripped
By: Jasinda Wilder

Welcome to my fantastic blog and my portion of the Stripped blog tour!

I am thrilled to be a part because I stinkin' loved this story!!!

Synopsis
So how did I get myself into this situation, you ask? Simple: desperation. When you're faced with being homeless and hungry or taking off your clothes for money, the choice is easier than you'd imagine. That doesn't make it easy, though. Oh no. I hate it, in fact.
There's nothing I'd like more than to quit and never go into another bar again, never hear the techno beat pulsing in my ears again, never feel the lecherous gazes of horny men again.
Then, one day, I meet a man. He's in my club, front and center. He watches me do my routine, and his gaze is full of hunger. Not the kind of desire I'm used to though. It's something different. Something hotter, deeper, and more possessive. I know who he is; of course I do. Everyone knows who Dawson Kellor is. He's People Magazine's Sexiest Man alive. He's the hottest actor in Hollywood. He's the man hand-picked for the role of Rhett Butler in the long-awaited remake of Gone With the Wind.
He's the kind of man who can have any woman in the entire world with a mere crook of his finger. So what's he doing looking at me like he has to have me? And how do I resist him when he looks at me with those intoxicating, changeable, quicksilver eyes?

I'm a virgin, and he's an American icon of male sexuality. I'm a stripper, and he's a man used to getting anything and everything he wants. And he wants me. I know I should say no, I know he's the worst kind of player…but what my mind knows, my body and my heart may not.
And then things get complicated.

My Thoughts
This is my first Jasinda Wilder book, and it won’t be my last! I joined her latest blog tour because I had actually been following her on Facebook. Adorable and funny, I became a Jasinda fan before even reading a word of Stripped...but I will be a dedicated reader from now on.
Stripped is an emotional roller coaster and I still don’t know if I’ve found my footing yet. Grey is all that is innocent in this world. She’s a preacher’s daughter, a southern belle, a virgin, a sheltered youth living in Georgia. Her world is upended when her Mother dies, leaving her with her extremely conservative and fairly judgemental Father. Needing to make her mark on the world, Grey sets off on her own for film school in LA, and as I’m sure as you’ve figured, very against the wishes of her Father.
Alone and lonely in California, Grey works her hardest but when her scholarships run out and with no help from her Father, she looks for a job. With a love of dancing, and no other job prospects, Grey takes on the persona of Gracie, a sensual stripper.
Hating her job but needing the money it brings in, its almost as if Grey is living two lives. She’s a film student by day and by night, she’s sexy Gracie. One night, during her set, she looks into the eyes of her future, Dawson Keller.
Dawson is one of the world’s most recognizable movie stars and he wants both Grey and Gracie in his life. He sees Grey as more than a stripper, and he sees Gracie as more than a virginal innocent.
Jasinda can write characters, let me tell you. Raw and just unbound emotions erupt throughout the story. Written in first character, you take the same risks as Grey does and through her eyes, you learn to fear then trust Dawson. The ups and downs in their relationship are so real and earth shaking, I found myself cheering for the good times and with tears in my eyes during others. The moments when Grey is stripping are some of the saddest, almost mournful moments I have ever read in fiction. I think the hurdles she has to cross make that happy ever after even sweeter, and the sex...good lord, its amaaaaaazing!
Groundbreaking and emotional are the two best words I can find to explain my feelings about Jasinda Wilder’s newest book, Stripped. It’s so much more than a romance. Suspenseful, insightful, and sensual, Stripped takes away what we think we know about the characters and ourselves and flips it on itself. Brava Ms. Wilder, Brava!

Favorite Quote
I’m delaying. I always delay. I never want to go out there. I thought I would get used to it, but I never have. My heart still hammers and I still feel ashamed, still feel nauseated. When the moment comes that I have to peel my shirt off and bare my breasts, I always want to crawl into a hole a pull dirt over me. I hate the lewd gazes and the pawing hands and the whistles and the suggestions.

Avon is proud to announce the publication of Laura Kaye’s second book in her hot Hard Ink series, HARD AS YOU CAN (On Sale: February 25, 2014).

For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn't want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops
Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops
By: Jen Campbell

From the hugely popular blog, a miscellany of hilarious and peculiar bookshop moments:
'Can books conduct electricity?'
'My children are just climbing your bookshelves: that's ok... isn't it?'

A John Cleese Twitter question ['What is your pet peeve?'], first sparked the 'Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops' blog, which grew over three years into one bookseller's collection of ridiculous conversations on the shop floor.

From 'Did Beatrix Potter ever write a book about dinosaurs?' to the hunt for a paperback which could forecast the next year's weather; and from 'I've forgotten my glasses, please read me the first chapter' to'Excuse me... is this book edible?'

Rock Chick Rescue
By: Kristen Ashley

Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie’s just plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie’s interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie’s a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet’s used to solving everyone’s problems she doesn’t want Eddie’s help.

Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s ne’er do well father, his ne’er do well friend, Bear, Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you’ve got Rock Chick Rescue.

Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver’s backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie’s take down a would-be murderer.

Through this, Jet’s got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie’s got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.

I'm at loss for what to read next...sooo, what are you reading today???

"Wicked Beat" By: Olivia Cunning Review

Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour, #4)
Wicked Beat
By: Olivia Cunning
Synopsis
From the moment he lays eyes on Sinners’ new front of house soundboard operator, drummer Eric Sticks knows he has to make Rebekah his. Unfortunately, she’s too busy trying to seduce guitarist Trey Mills to pay him much attention. Rebekah never planned to fall for the tall, goofy drummer with the weird sense of humor and a heart the size of the galaxy. But Eric makes her laugh and his constant attention makes her feel sexy and irresistible–exactly what she needs after the things her last lover said to her. A woman who gives as much as she takes, Rebekah makes Eric feel like a total stud–exactly what he needs after surviving a decade of watching the incredibly talented members of Sinners from the wings.
My Thoughts
I’ve been looking forward to Sticks’ story since I read the first Sinners’ novel almost two years ago. There’s just something about a drummer that does it for me I tell ya! Released last in the series but coming chronologically as the fourth book in the five part series, Wicked Beat tells of the wild relationship between Drummer Eric Sticks and soundboard operator, Rebekah.
Rebekah begins the novel with a huge crush on Trey, guitarist and ultimate badboy of the Sinners rock band. Filling in for her brother as he is recuperating from a severe bus crash, Rebekah goes on the road with the five band members. Trying to fit in, do a good job, and still live up to the standards her brother had while working, Rebekah finds herself drawn to Eric, who tries to help her in any way he can.
So going in with a hopefully open attitude, I have two feelings about this one. It started out strong and seemed to be the Sinners’ group that I loved so much in the beginning. The interaction between the band members was there and it seemed like the old Olivia Cunning was back.
Then I began the second half of the story and it seemed like a foreign land to me. It almost appeared as if she had stopped writing for a while and then tried to pick it up again. The whole feel of the novel was changed. Rebekah’s motivations were different, there was a whole religious aspect that didn’t jive the story and just unnecessary conflicts that didn’t add anything to the relationship. I found myself skimming and even skipping pages because it seemed redundant or just dumb. Finally I gave up the book and just read the last few pages to find out what happened, which I absolutely HATE to do. Ugh.
So am I happy I read this book? Well, I guess for the sake of finding out Sticks’ story I am. Was it a good story? It started out that way but fell flat for me, which was disappointing. For those that are fans of the Sinners series, I find the first two books are extremely strong and stand up well but the following three are disappointing. I’m hoping with Cunning working a new series, things will improve. I’m going to try her next book but if its anything like her last few books, I might have to give up this once promising emerging author.

10 THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW
ABOUT JENNIFER SEASONS
  1. I wrote PLAYING THE FIELD just a few short weeks after giving birth to my youngest and fourth child. I didn’t sleep at all the first three months after she was born.
  2. I love interior decorating.
  3. I believe that chocolate = love. Enough said.
  4. I studied anthropology at the University of Colorado at Boulder because people fascinate me.
  5. I may have a very small tattoo. Or three.
  6. I love painting the walls in my home. Every shade brings a different energy and feel. It’s the first thing I go to when I’m ready for a room makeover.
  7. The first romance I read was The Gift by Julie Garwood when I was thirteen. It was awesome. I fell in love with the genre and decided then and there that I would someday write romance too. Now here I am. Very cool.
  8. I prefer to be barefoot.
  9. When I sent off STEALING HOME to Avon Impulse I was absolutely sure it was going to get a big fat rejection.
  10. Every Christmas Eve after the kids are in bed my husband and I watch Love Actually while we wrap presents and eat sugar cookies. It’s our little tradition.

My Thoughts
I love a great sports romance. Susan Elizabeth Phillips hooked me on them, Jaci Burton has some great ones and now I’m going to add Jennifer Seasons to my favorites list. I enjoyed the contrast in the characters but loved the sizzling sexuality between single mother Sonny and super hot baseball star JP.
A quick disclaimer before I start - I read this book which is second in the series without reading the first book, Stealing Home. It didn’t bother my enjoyment at all but there were tons of recurring characters. If that matters to you, start with the first and then come back. Now onward...!
JP first sees Sonny during a baseball camp for children. Drawn to her, he later finds out she is the mother of one of the kids he’s been helping at the camp. Determined to get to know her better JP begins pursuing her. Initially Sonny is pretty resistant  to the fast talking younger man, but he slowly wears her down. I mean come on, he’s successful, confident and a hottie. What isn’t there to like?
I enjoyed the pace of the story and it developed nicely. The sexual tension simmered and the dynamics between the characters was well thought out. I think Seasons did a good job of showing Sunny’s insecurities in dating and single parenthood. The character development of Sonny’s son and his distrust of a new man in his mom’s life was realistic, which I appreciated.
Just a plain sweet story with some smokin’ hot scenes, I really enjoyed Playing the Field. I liked it so much, I immediately went out and bought Stealing Home. Great characters, a fun story, sweet romance that will leave you with a smile on your face and eagerly awaiting the next one.

What I've Read this week...
Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2)
Sweet Dreams
By: Kristen Ashley

Lauren Grahame has spent her whole life thinking something special was going to happen. She didn’t know what it was, she just knew it would one day be hers. But she learned the hard way that special wasn’t on offer.

So, after divorcing her cheating husband, Lauren searched for nothing special and she thought she found it when she landed a job as a waitress in a biker bar in Carnal. It was perfect: a nothing job in a nowhere bar in Nowheresville.

Then Tatum Jackson walked in. Part-owner of the bar, he took one look at high-class Lauren and wanted nothing to do with her. And he made this known, loudly.

Tate’s angry insults seared in her brain, Lauren decides the feeling is mutual and she doesn’t want anything to do with the gloriously handsome Tate Jackson. The clash of the bartender and barmaid begins but, even though Tate makes his change of mind clear (in biker-speak, a language Lauren is not fluent in), Lauren is intent on going her own way.

Until a serial killer hits Carnal and Lauren finds out Tate isn’t a bartender, he’s a bounty hunter. He stakes his claim for Lauren before he goes on the hunt for a killer but Laurie doesn’t speak biker nor does she understand bounty hunters and Tate comes back from the hunt to find his old lady has moved on.

Life throws curveball after curveball at Laurie and Tate. As secrets are revealed, women are brutally murdered, and Lauren tries to find her inner biker babe.

Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4)
Breathe
By: Kristen Ashley

In order to protect a father he does not respect, in Lady Luck, we learned that good cop Chace Keaton went bad, sacrificing his career and his future. But when the local police department's secrets are revealed and the wife he's forced to marry is murdered, Chace finds himself the town of Carnal's hero. Knowing how deep in the mud he was forced to sink, Chace feels he'll never get clean. The quiet, content future he envisioned of the love a good woman with whom he could build a family was now beyond his reach. The only thing he can do is find his wife's murderer.

But he isn't the only one looking.

While searching for new leads, he runs into Faye Goodknight, the town's quiet, shy, pretty librarian. Chace has long since had his eye on what could possibly be the town's last remaining virgin but he has also long since given up hope he could make her his. Faye is pure and clean and Chace refuses to dirty her with his sordid past.

Pure and clean Faye may be, but when the shy librarian is forced to go head to head with the man who she's had a crush on since he hit her hometown, Chace finds Faye is full of surprises. And he doesn't know what to do with her.

He Watches Me (Seen Trilogy, #1)
He Watches Me
By: Cynthia Sax

Anna Sampson has a naughty secret. Every night, she slips into her neighbor's yard and swims naked in his pool. She fantasizes that the dynamic young billionaire watches her nightly nude aquatics, his brilliant green eyes gleaming with lust.

She discovers this isn't pure fantasy. Gabriel Blaine has been watching her via his security cameras, and now that he has returned to L.A., he doesn't plan to stop. That's all he wants—to watch. Anna knows she shouldn't allow him and she certainly shouldn't want more, but she craves Blaine's attention, needing his gaze fixed on her body.

"Making it Last" By: Ruthie Knox Review

Making It Last - A Novella (Camelot, #4)

Making It Last
By: Ruthie Knox
Synopsis
A hotel bar. A sexy stranger. A night of passion. There’s a part of Amber Mazzara that wants those things, wants to have a moment — just one — where life isn’t a complicated tangle of house and husband and kids and careers. Then, after a long, exhausting “vacation” with her family, her husband surprises her with a gift: a few days on the beach . . . alone.
Only she won’t be alone long, because a handsome man just bought her a drink. He’s cool, he’s confident, and he wants to take Amber to bed and keep her there for days. Lucky for them both, he’s her husband. He’s only got a few days in Jamaica to make her wildest desires come true, but if he can pull it off, there’s reason to believe that this fantasy can last a lifetime.
My Thoughts
Another hit from Knox!! Making it Last brings back Amber, sister to Caleb from Along Came Trouble and Katie from Flirting with Disaster, and Amber’s husband Tony Mazzara. Married for over 10 years and raising three boys, Amber and Tony struggle with their marriage and relationship in this latest Knox novel.
The novella starts out immediately after the event from Flirting with Disaster. Amber and Tony are trying to wrangle three boys onto a plane after an exhausting trip to a tropical paradise. When Tony notices how stressed and unhappy Amber seems to be (and trust me, he is slow on the uptake) he offers for Amber to stay at the resort and in return, he’ll handle the kids. Amber and Tony spend the next few days reevaluating their lives, their relationship, and their life.
I think what I liked most about this book was the honesty of the characters. Here we have two characters we have met before, living in the “happy ever after” part of their story, but it isn’t all unicorns and rainbows. These are two people with real problems, who genuinely care for one another, they are just lost. Working on their relationship, reconnecting with one another, and finding whats really imporatnt in life.
Ruthie has an excellent way of writing real people. As I read, I couldn’t help but think about the realism as to which they attack their problems. Life is messy and Knox shows life at its messiest. Of course there is a happy ever after but it is a rocky ride.

Be sure to check out the other books in this series: Along Came Trouble, How to Misbehave and Flirting with Disaster.

I'm an Addict baby!

So a few weeks ago I received an awesome
 e-mail from Avon.

I was chosen to become an Addict!

Already being a huge fan of Avon Romance,
I was thrilled to say the least.

So for the next six months, I will talking a whole lotta Avon. So be prepared for awesomeness.

I've already read a ton of great romance.
FYI Jennifer Seasons has an amazing new baseball series I'm going to be talking a lot about in a few weeks.

This past weekend, I also received my first Avon Addict package.
Was doing a happy dance - before the big reveal!
I had heard from the Facebook group the boxes were coming, so I waited in anticipation. When I got home from work on Friday, this lovely lovely box was waiting for me.
All the goodies!!
Seriously, couldn't believe all of the goodies that were inside. Love me some Candis Terry and I'm incredibly excited to have multiple copies to share.

Stephanie Evanovich is a new author to me (woot woot) and I'm excited to try Lisa Marie Rice. Caroline Linden is always lovely and Lori Wilde? How much better could it be?
Hello Hot Fireman :)
I honestly don't think I need to say anything about this - but I'm definitely smilin'
Daisy Jane the weenie dog is pretty excited too!
I'm excited to invite you on my journey as an Addict. I've read some great books already and I'm currently reading Caroline Linden's Love and other Scandals from the box.

Thank you to Avon for this awesome opportunity. Watch for fun reviews, stories, and maybe even a giveaway or two!

Before you leave, be sure to check out this great video from the Romantic Times Convention this past May. I went to the Avon party but you won't see me in the background. It was so stinkin' fun to go and I was able to meet Lorraine Heath, Sarah MacLean, and so many other authors. It may have been the best part of the entire convention to be honest.
